Relationship before resolution

We've been taught that conflict resolution starts with strategies, techniques, and tools.

It doesn't.

It starts with deciding if the relationship is worth fighting for.

Moving forward starts with backing up.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s the relationship like now?

  • What would it look like in its ideal state?

  • What’s holding us back from getting there?

  • Am I willing to face my role in this and forgive theirs?

  • What would improving this relationship mean to me personally?

Knowing these answers brings clarity to the final question…

  • Is the uncomfortable work of reconciliation worth it?

If someone has been on your mind as you read this, perhaps it’s time to take a courageous first step toward them by inviting them to talk about it.

No relationship. No resolution.

Will you brave the gap?
