Thawing out

I asked my counselor, “Why am I crying so much?”

“You’re thawing out”, he replied.

That breakthrough, 15-years ago, helped me see a problem that I was part of:

A lack of emotional awareness at home and at work.

As a man, I have the right and responsibility to speak the truth to other men about the unhealthy generational programming we’ve received.

Since we were boys, many of us were told to suppress and deny emotions which had been mislabeled as weak or unmasculine.

Some of the few socially acceptable emotions for a man to express have been anger or rage.

We can do better.

We need to do better.

For decades, believing lies about who I was expected to be took a toll on my relationships and stunted my growth.

Thawing out is not easy.

It takes courage.

Are you brave enough to feel it?

What topics intrigue you?
